EXPERIMENTAL AND COMPUTERIZED ANALYTICAL METHOD FOR MIX DESIGN OF CONCRETE USING DOLOMITE AS A COARSE AGGREGATE
Tamer El-Sayed Ahmed Said;
Abstract
Computerized concrete mix design program exhibits two methods for selecting and adjusting proportions of normal weight concrete taking into consideration the requirements for placeability, consistency, strength and durability.
One proportioning method is based on experimental work done using dolomite as coarse crushed aggregate using the common ratio of blending coarse aggregate to fine aggregate which is 2:1 respectively. The experimental work concluded the study of the effect of sand size on the concrete workability and concrete strength at ages of7 days and 28 days. The experimental work done and the concrete mixture proportions are derived from the Egyptian Code of Practice (ECP).
The other computerized proportioning method is the standard practice for
• selecting proportions for normal weight concrete as reported by the American Concrete Institute (ACI 211-1-89). The concrete mixture optionally included chemical water reducer admixture, pozzolanic and slag materials.
The computer mix design program is established by HTML language incorporated with JAVA script code which allows program to run under Internet Explorer browser. Publishing the computer on the web makes possible to be used globally.
