Assessment of Nurses' Knowledge and Performance regarding Care of Neonatal Emergencies

Abstract
Neonatal emergencies are common problems. They appear either at the time of birth or post natal period and at home within several weeks of discharge. In all instances, they present significant diagnostic and treatment challenges to the health care provider and must be taken seriously (Sills, 2018).
This study was aimed to assess nurses' knowledge and performance regarding care of neonatal emergencies.
Research question:
1. What are the levels of nurses' knowledge and performance regarding care of neonatal emergencies?
The subject and methods of the current study will discuss under the following four (4) designs:
I. Technical Design
II. Operational Design
III. Administrative Design
IV. Statistical Design
I. Technical Design
A descriptive design was used to conduct this study.
Study Settings
The study was carried out at Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICUs) in Obstetric & Gynecology Hospital affiliated to Ain Shams University Hospitals and the New Educational Tanta University Hospital affiliated to Tanta University Hospitals. At NICU of Ain Shams Hopital 14 incubators which devided into three rooms. The first room for critical cases, second room for mild cases and feeding and the third room for isolation, The unit of Tanta University Hospital has three rooms each one contains five incubators and has sex conventional ventilators and two high frequency ventilators and four CPAP devices. These two places have high admission rate and large number of nurses who deal with neonatal emergency situations.
