DENTAL ARCH DIMENSIONS ANALYSIS AMONG JORDANIAN SCHOOL CHILDREN
Bader Eddin Borgan;
Abstract
The purpose of this study was to establish the standards of dental arch
• dimensions and forms among sample of 152 Jordanian schoolchildren, 75 boys and 77 girls, ranges inage from 14.0 to 16.3 years.
All subjects had acceptable occlusion, and new method was used to compute the arch dimensions.
Clustering of arch forms was achieved and polynomial regression for these forms was calculated to establish the arch form equations.
From the above mentioned results the following conclusions could be drawn:
1- Statistical significant difference was found between males and females in the mean mesiodistal teeth width, arch widths, lengths, perimeter and arch depth between males and females, and the variation in previous measurement was correlated to sex more than race.
2- The mean mesiodistal teeth widths of Jordanian population were similar to that of Egyptian and American populations.
3- The arch depth was "dependent on maxillary inter-second molar width and mandibular inter-canine width.
4- The arch form tended to widen posteriorly at the inter-second molar region.
5- A high correlation was found between height and arch lengths.
