Abstract


Tracheostomy is a common procedure for multiple medical indications. Patient with tracheostomy require specialized nursing skills in order to prevent complications associated with tracheostomy. Patients with tracheostomy are not limited to the intensive care setting but present on a wide variety of nursing units such as acute care, geriatrics, oncology, rehabilitation units, medicine, and surgery units. So that, to provide safe and competent care, nursing staff must understand the immediate postoperative and long-term management of tracheostomy patients.
Aim of the Study
This study aims to:
Assess nurses’ performance regarding care of patients with tracheostomy through the followings:
1- Assessing nurses’ level of knowledge regarding care of patient with tracheostomy.
2- Assessing nurses’ level of practice regarding care of patients with tracheostomy.
3- Assessing nurses’ level of attitude regarding care of patients with tracheostomy.
