An Edition of Unpublished Greek Papyri and Ostraca from the Egyptian Museum

Abstract

The present research comprises seven unpublished Greek papyri and other seven unpublished Greek ostraca . Each text is elaborated in a traditional format, consisting of introduction, transcription, translation, and commentary.

These documents (papyri and ostraca) are preserved in the Egyptian Museum in Cairo. The collections of papyri in the Egyptian Museum are under Special Register number (S.R). 3065; 3732; 1245; 3070; 3805. The collection of ostraca in the Basement of the Egyptian Museum are under Temperory Register number (TR) 20/10/14/1D .

I got permission from the Egyptian Museum to photograph, study and edit these papyri and ostraca.

The documents are dealing with different subjects; their dates are from Ptolemaic, Roman and Byzantine periods ; most of the texts include the date and the provenance in their contents.

All the documents have been photographed for publication with permission from the Egyptian Museum.
