YOUSSEF YACOUB AZIZ;
Abstract
Infection of bone by pyogenic organisms is termed Osteomyelitis", which represents one of the most important clinical problems in orthopedic surgery.
Osteomyelitis is caused by infection of the bone with pyogenic organtsms usually staphylococcus aureous.
A major injury of a bone renders it vulnerable to infection by organisms circulating in the blood.
Classification of Osteomyelitis:
I.
I Endogenous (Haematogenous) Osteomyelitis:
• Acute Haematogenous Osteomyelitis.
• Subacute Haematogenous Osteomyelitis.
• chronic Haemataogenous Osteomyelitis.
Exogenous:
• Post-traumatic osteomyelitis.
• Postoperative osteomyelitis.
• After surgical treatment of fracture.
• After joint replacement.
