Comparing parameters of ovarian reserve before & after laparoscopic ovarian drilling of polycystic ovaries
Iman Mohamed Zaki Abozeid;
Abstract
PCOS is highly prevalent endocrinopathy in reproductive-aged women. PCOS is associated with reproductive and metabolic alterations, and constitutes the most common cause of anovulation in women (Mehri et al., 2019).
In women with PCOS, significant increases in ovarian androgens stimulated by FSH were accompanied by similar significant increments in FSH-stimulated inhibin B (Inh B) levels compared with those of normal women (Shayya et al., 2014).
Serum AMH has been evaluated as an additional diagnostic marker for PCOS (Iwase et al., 2018).
Laparoscopic ovarian surgery could be second line therapy for women with PCOS, who are clomiphene citrate resistant, with anovulatory infertility and no other infertility factors (Teede et al., 2018).
Where laparoscopic ovarian surgery is to be recommended, there may be a small associated risk of lower ovarian reserve or loss of ovarian function (Teede et al., 2018).
