THE EFFECT OF HAEMODILUTION WITH DIFFERENT SOLUTIONS ON COAGULATION PROFILE DURING MASTECTOMY OPERATIONS (AN IN-VIVO STUDY)

Hala Reda Mahfouz;

Abstract

On studying the overall test results in this study, it was found that there is a highly significant change between the initial results and the post-infusion assay levels in all tests performed. This was common for the three groups of the study.

There was no significant difference between the different groups except in prothrombin time assay where normal saline group versus HES recorded a P value of 0.035. The P value between, the three groups in study was 0.043. Prothrombin concentration and INR showed the same degrees of significance.

Bleeding time showed highly significant change in all groups before and after infusion (P<0.00 I) whereas no significant variation was seen between different groups (P of
0.289).

Similarly, haemoglobin comparison before and after infusion was highly significant with the three groups (P<0.00 I) and there was no. significant difference between the groups (P value 0.705).

Also platelet count demonstrated the same pattern (P<0.001 highly significant) when comparing pre- and post• infusion levels for any of the groups whereas the in-between group comparison was not significant (P value 0.351 ).
