Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is a common health disorder, which constitutes a heavy problem on personal and economic welfare. It has a great importance because it is the hepatic manifestation of the metabolic syndrome related to insulin resistance (IR), central obesity, hyperlipidemia, and hypertension. Approximately 20%-30% of the adult population in western countries & in the Middle East suffer from NAFLD. Non-alcoholic Steatohepatitis (NASH) is more severe and clinically significant form of NAFLD.
