Abstract
This study was carried out on eighty patients with preterm labor pains before completed thirty-six weeks of gestation who were admitted to Obstetrics and Gynecology Department, Tanta University Hospitals. The patients were selected according to previously specified selection criteria, which were the followings: Definite uterine contractions. Effective cervical changes (dilatation and/or effacement). This group consists of twenty patients. These patients received oral magnesium sulfate capsule. Each capsule contains 419.5-ing. magnesium sulfate tri-hydrate every four hours as maintenance
tocolytic agent.
Group II:
This group consists of twenty patients. These patients received nitroglycerine patch (Nitroderm 5- TTS). Each patch contains twenty
