Perception of Health Care Personnel in Ain Shams University Hospitals toward COVID-19 Vaccine and the Intention for Vaccination

Abstract

A cross sectional study was conducted among health care personnel at Ain Shams University Hospitals from the first of April 2021 till end of August 2021. An anonymous self-administered questionnaire designed to cover topics wanted to be addressed in the study. This study conducted to estimate the perception of health care personnel (HCP) in Ain Shams University hospitals toward COVID-19 vaccine, intention to receive COVID-19 vaccine and associated factors. There were 337 participants, with a survey response rate of about 97%. 228(67.7%) intend to receive COVID-19 vaccine, 59(17.5%) do not intend to receive it while 50(14.8%) were unsure “hesitant”. The respondents were physicians (53.4%) and nurses (29.7%) and workers (16.9%), more than half were females (53.4%), (79.5%) of subjects were aged from 20 to 30 with mean age was, and (71.8%) had from 1 to 5 years of experience, (30.3%) previously diagnosed COVID-19 based on a lab test and (15.7%) had chronic disease.
