Prevalence of Work related Asthma among Adult Workers in Multicenter Farms in Great Cairo, Egypt

Abstract
mong the general adult population in high income countries, it has been estimated that 2–5% of patients with asthma have occupational asthma, the risk of developing occupational asthma can be as high as 5–10% per year. Our study was a multi center cross sectional study including 150 Adult workers from 4 different farms in great Cairo.
Our study showed that 11 out of 150 subjects (7.3%) of study population had work related asthma, subdivided as, 6 out of the 11 WRA subjects (4% of total subjects) had allergic occupational asthma, 3 out of 11 WRA subjects (2% of total subjects) had work-exacerbated asthma, 2 out of 11 WRA subjects 18.2% (1.3% of total subjects) had irritant occupational asthma.
