Abstract

The aim of our study was to evaluate the effectiveness of Hyaluronic acid as scaffold in the regeneration of immature necrotic anterior permanent teeth.
The clinical study included 30 patients of necrotic immature anterior teeth. Cases were divided randomly and equally into 2 groups. Group I treated by REPs including blood clot formation (BC), Group II treated by REPs including (BC) and Hyaluronic acid. All cases were treated using Metapaste for 2-3 weeks, followed by induction of bleeding into the clean disinfected canals, which were then sealed by white MTA coronal plug then evaluated clinically and radiographically in the follow up periods up to 12 months.
Clinical evaluation included history taking and clinical examination regarding presence or absence of periapical pain, swelling or sinus tract.
Clinical follow up showed that all cases were asymptomatic, functional, and irresponsive to hot test throughout the follow up period. Some cases experienced mild pain or discomfort.
Radiographic evaluation included measurement of change in root length, thickness and apical diameter of standardized radiographs. Data were collected and tabulated for statistical analysis.
Group II showed significant higher values than group I in the increase in dentine thickness and decrease in apical diameter during all periods of follow up especially the second 3months.
There was significant increase in root thickness at the end of whole follow up periods in group2.
There was significant decrease of apical diameter at the end of whole follow up periods in group 2.
