Analytical Investigation Of Certain Fungicides

Yasmeen Ahmed Abo EL Hassan;

Abstract

Summary
This thesis is concerned with the analysis of fungicides namely; Carbendazim, Thiabendazole, Metalaxyl, Imazalil and Propiconazole in different orange samples or in their commercial products.
This thesis consists of five parts:
Part I: General Introduction and Literature Review:
This part consists of two sections:
Section A: General Introduction:
This section consists of a general introduction on fungicides, their classification, mode of action and toxicity, Regulations and legislations to control their concentrations in different matrices, definition of maximum residual limit, preharvest interval and their role in detection of the safe period to consume the vegetables and fruits after being treated with the fungicides.
Section B: Literature Review:
This section includes a detailed review of the selected fungicides. It consists of their structures, chemical and physical properties, and a review on different reported methods for their determination.
Part II: Chromatographic Methods for The Determination of The Studied Fungicides in Orange Samples
This part consists of two sections
Section A: Determination of Fungicides, residues and Their Degradation Kinetics in Orange Tree Fruits Using Liquid Chromatography Tandem Mass Spectrometry Coupled with QuEChERS Method.
In this section, a new, sensitive, rapid and validated liquid chromatography tandem mass (LCMS/MS) method was developed for simultaneous determination of the studied five fungicides in orange samples using QuEChERS as a preconcentration method for extraction. The mobile phase was ammonium formate buffer and methanol in isocratic mode.
