Abstract
The present study included 40 patients with persistent or recurrent brain tumor who were referred to Kasr El Ainy center of radiation oncology (NEMROCK) during the period between April 1999 and April
200 I. This study is a prospective randomized study comparing stereotactic radiosurgery versus palliative combination chemotherapy in
patients with persistent or recurrent brain tumors.
All patients fulfilling the protocol entry criteria were randomized
(according to the close envelop method)into the 2 following arms:
Arm A: (palliative combination chemotherapy).
Arm B: (Stereotactic radiosurgery)
All patients were subjected to a median follow up of IO months (range from I - 25 month).
