Abstract


Hyperthyroidism affects about 2 % of women and 0.2 % of men, The commonest cause being Graves' disease, an autoimmune disorder, cytokines produced by intrathyroidal lymphocytes are likely to be involved in the induction and maintenance of the autoimmune process. TNF a is a well known pro inflammatory cytokine, its serum level proved to increase in patients with Graves' disease.
Angiogenesis is a process by which new blood vessels are formed.

Angiogenesis occurs in thyroid disease like goiter, graves' disease,

thyroiditis and cancer VEGF is closely related to angiogenesis and play I

an important role as angiogenic signal inside the follicular and I

endothelial cells of the thyroid gland. I

hyperthyroid patients and their relation to thyroid hormones.
