ESMOLOL, FENTANYL, LIDOCAINE IN ATTENUATION OF HEMODYNAMIC RESPONSE TO TRACHEAL INTUBATION IN OLD PATIENTS
LOTFY SHAWKY GINDY BOTROS;
Abstract
This study was carried out in EL-Minia University hospital on eighty patients of both sex who were scheduled for different eleclive surgical procedures that would require tracheal intubation in order to investigate the hemodynamic response following laryngoscopy and tracheal intubation and
to compare the effects of intravenous lidocaine fentanyl and
esmolol on altenuating these responses
All patients were premedicated with intravenous mi dazol am C5mg) before induction ofanaest.hesia with thiopenlal sodium (4-5mg/kg), then the studying drug which was used t-o attenuate
the hemodynamic response to laryngoscopy and intubalion was given. Succinylcholine was given in a dose of 1mg/kg to facilitate endotracheal intubation which was performed in
15-30 seconds. Anaesthesia was maintained with nitrous oxide
oxygen ( 6 : 4) and halothane 1-1. 5%. No other drugs was
(given during the period of the study (the first 10 minutes).
According to the drug used to attenuate hemodynamic responses to laryngoscopy and endotracheal intubalion the
patients were divided into
Group I (Control Group) .
Members of this
lour groups each oi 20 patients :
group were received placebo
CdeA rose 5%) 90 seconds before intubation. Group II (Lidocaine Group) :-
Subjects of this group were received intravenous
lidocaine 1.5mg/kg as in group I.
