Abstract


Clinical evaluation is requiring an assessment of the integration of cognitive, psychomotor and affective skills through an evaluation • protocol containing multiple strategies for appraising the student nurses practical competencies in all three domains. Comparing the student nurses achievement for any procedure against criteria leads to objectivity, fairness, and decreases bias of clinical instructor appraisal. The use• of model for clinical evaluation contains arranged criteria as systematic plan or framework for the evaluation. Criteion referenced evaluation tools could be effective in determining students performance • in the clinical field because it includes knowledge base for the students,
amount of instructors guidance and quality of students performance .
•• Nursing students performance is indicated by safety and accuracy of

nursing procedures, time spent on using procedure, demonstration of dexterity and students co-ordination. Evaluation relevance and accuracy are achieved when the evaluation tool measures the educational objective as directly and precisely as possible.

The . aim of the study is to test the application of criterion referenced evaluation tool• for measuring University Nursing students clinical performance. A sample including 300 nursing students, 50 students out of each department at Faculty of Nursing Tanta University. A sample of 57 faculty educators was also included in the study.
