Influence of Temporization on the Shear Bond Strength of Two Permanent Cements to Dentin

Engie Yosri El Sayed Abdel Salam;

Abstract

he purpose of this study was to evaluate the effect of temporization with or without eugenol on the shear bond strength of two resin cements to dentin.
The specimens were randomly divided into three main groups according to the type of temporary cements used, each (n=20):
A) Eugenol free temporary cements (RelyX Temp NE 3M ESPE)
B) Eugenol containing temporary cements (RelyX Temp E 3M ESPE)
C) Control group (no temporary cementation)
Each group was further subdivided into two subgroups according to the type of permenant cement used, each (n=30):
I) Self-adhesive resin-based cements (RelyX Unicem 3M ESPE)
II) Total etch resin-based cements (RelyX Ultimate 3M ESPE)
With regards to the effect of exposure time for the temporary cement before permanent cement application:
1) Exposure for 24 hours
2) Exposure for 7 days
