Techno-Economical Evaluation of Hybrid Renewable Energy Sources in power systems
Fathy Alaa El Din Fathy Sabet Ghonima;
Abstract
This thesis deals with economical and technical evaluation of hybrid power system feeding six megawatt load located at a city in Egypt called Hurghada this study made by simulated that system in Matlab Simulink in four season of a year for each type of evaluation.
Economical evaluation have two parts first part is cost estimation to know the generating power cost of hybrid system in every season to reveal the lowest and the highest cost of power unit in every season and second part is economic load dispatch to know each hybrid system topology gives the required power at low cost and which topology gives the required power at highest cost, economic load dispatch made for eight hybrid system topologies.
Technical evaluation have two parts first part studies power flow of hybrid system to determine steady-state operation and determine voltage bus, phase angles, active and reactive power by applying the hybrid system to IEEE five buses and study load flow using Netwon Raphson method and second part is studying generating reliability indices Loss of Load Probability(LOLP), Loss Of Load Expectation, (LOLE) Expected Energy Not Supplied (EENS) in each season of the year to know which season is reliable to supply power to the load area that from study the eight cases of probabilities for generating unit which is all units in operation, one unit shut down, two units shut down and all units shut down these reliability indices calculation according to load duration curve of load area in one year.
KEYWORDS: Photovoltaic (PV), Wind turbine (WT), Diesel generator (DG), Fuel cell STACK , Cost estimation, Economic load dispatch (ELD), Levelised cost of energy (LCOE), Genetic algorithm (GA), Partial swarm optimization (PSO), Forced Outage Rate (FOR), Loss of Load Probability (LOLP), Loss Of Load Expectation (LOLE) Expected Energy Not Supplied(EENS).
