Abstract
isual impairment is associated with diminished quality of life because people with visual impairment often report difficulty performing everyday activities and achieving their work correctly especially those who need high precision in their field like doctors and surgeons.
Low quality of vision results from uncorrected refractive errors, low grades of stereopsis, color vision deficiency, ocular trauma and many other diseases.
To know your capabilities is the best way to overcome your difficulties and for this reason our study was done. Our aim was to study the prevalence of ocular diseases in symptomless and symptomatic newly admitted medical students in the faculty of medicine Ain Shams University and to review most widely used new medical students’ ocular examinations.
Our study was a Cross sectional prospective clinical study. It was carried in faculty of medicine Ain Shams University on 304 new medical students of class 2015 and 2016 who agreed to participate in our study. Our first preliminary examination was done by recording complaint, visual acuity by landolt C chart unaided and aided, wearing glasses, name, age, sex past history of ocular diseases or systemic diseases and family history of ocular diseases or other diseases. Then students were further examined
