Abstract


ssertive individual is in charge of interpersonal relationships, feels confident and capable without cockiness or hostility, is basically spontaneous in the expression of feelings and emotions, and is generally looked up to and admired, human beings have the fundamental right to be treated with respect, and express feelings, opinions, and desires. Furthermore, they state that a person should be able to say no without feeling guilty (Salmond & Echevarria, 2017). Assertiveness is the ability to respect the rights of others, also assertiveness is communication expressed in a positive way to cope and express oneself without provoking harm to others without worry and fear (Ates, 2016).This study aimed to assess assertiveness among nurses in Elfayoum University Hospitals through: assessing assertive behavior among nurses, identifying factors affecting assertive behavior among nurses.
The study was conducted at Elfayoum University Hospitals, which include two different hospitals. These are Medical University Hospital, Surgical University Hospital; the subjects of study include two groups.200 staff nurses &42 head nurses and assistants.
Two tools were used to collect data. First tool was self-administered questionnaire sheet which consisting of two parts,
