Abstract


pacemaker is a small device that is placed in the chest or abdomen to help control abnormal heart rhythms. It uses electrical pulses to promote the heart to beat at normal rate. In addition, pacemakers are electronic devices that can be used to initiate the heart beats and support cardiac output when the heart intrinsic electrical system cannot effectively pacing (Strickland and Eliza, 2015).
The nurse play a key role in caring for child with pacemaker implantation, where the nurse is responsible for comprehensive assessment for the child and family education. Also nursing intervention should aim to help the child maintain a good quality of the life by developing ways to cope and comply with constraints of the treatments and possibility of complication occurring (Urden et al., 2016).
Children and their mothers' need, nurse's assistance to cope with physical and emotional changes that occur with pacemaker treatment. Also, they need for detection of malfunction and follow up care. Where, the nurse should educating the mother in preparation for self-care and advice mother to keep regular appointments with physician after discharge (Celik et al., 2015).
