The Effect of Leadership Program on Leadership Practice among Nurse Managers
Boshra Mostafa Younes;
Abstract
Leadership has become an important aspect of management practice in the changing health care environment. Globally, leadership has important implications for all stakeholders in healthcare disciplines with responsibility for maintaining high standards of care (Bird and Mendenhall 2016). Effective leadership plays a vital role in every sector through change as this often involves ambiguity, uncertainty and risks. Where there is poor leadership, employees may be reluctant to change as they view change as a threat rather than an opportunity to their career. Strong leadership, complemented by effective administration of resources is therefore necessary to support change (Ahmed, et al., 2017)
This study aimed at identifying the effect of leadership program on leadership practice among nurse managers through: assessing nurse managers’ knowledge regarding leadership before the program, assessing nurse managers’ leadership practice before the program, developing and implementing leadership program, assessing nurse managers’ knowledge regarding leadership after the program and assessing nurse managers' leadership practice after implementing program.
