Evaluation of Bond Strength of Two types of Resin with Different Viscosities with Lithium Disilicate Glass Ceramic after Two Types of Surface Treatment
Haitham Ahmed Fouad Tohamy;
Abstract
This research was performed to study the bond strength of two types of resin with different viscosities; high viscosity (Flowable composite) and Low viscosity (Light cured resin cement) with lithium disilicate specimens after two types of surface treatment Laser surface treatment
(2.5W Er,Cr:YSGG laser etching and silanation) , acid etching and silanation (9.5 % HF acid etching)
Blocks of IPS e.max CAD CAM esthetic restorative materials were used to prepare slices Using IsoMet 4000 microsaw. For easier handling and fixation during the micro shear test, 28 slices of IPS emax were embedded in acrylic blocks and divided into two groups and color coded according to surface treatment:
White acrylic block for laser surface treatment(Group A) and Green for acid surface treatment (Group B) then both groups were subdivided according to type of luting resin; flowable composite (subgroup I) and Light cured resin cement (subgroup II). On each ceramic slice five micro cylinders of luting resin were applied (total of 140 microcylinders)
Subgroups BI&BII were etched using Hydrofluoric acid 9.5% followed by silane coupling agent according to manufacturer’s instructions.
Subgroups AI&AII were subjected to Er,Cr:YSGG laser irradiation followed by the application of silane primer
Irises of polyethylene tube having 1mm diameter and 1mm height were positioned over the disc surface, then cement was injected into the tube, then light curing was done on the top of the tube with a LED light-curing unit according to the manufacturer’s instructions and in order to simulate the oral cavity media, specimens were thermo-cycled using THE-1100 SD Mechatronics thermo-cycler. At the end Micro-shear bond strength test was performed on all 140 micro-tubes.
