Abstract


Immunization against the most common and deadly childhood diseases saves the lives of some one million children in developing countries each year. But more than 3.5 million others are killed or disabled by diseases that immunization could have prevented. Concerted efforts are now underway to expand immunization services to all the world's infants and pregnent '
women by 1990.
The aim of this study is to assess the degree of vaccination coverage of children during the second year of life.
Intermediate targets are to;
- Measure vaccination coverage in rural Assiut Governorate,
Assess the nutritional status of children as an indicator of
physical growth.
Study morbidity in last 6 months.
- Study background childhood mortality in areas of the study.
The tools used for collection data of the study were:
- Records of health units and health districts.
Interviewing questionnaire with the mother.
- Anthropmetric measurements of the child (20-24 month).
