Abstract
erniated lumbar disk is the most common specific cause of low back pain and accounts for a large portion of patients having spine surgery in the USA annually and continues to be a major health problem. Lumbar disc herniation is a prevalent condition that has many direct and indirect costs in terms of pain and disability as well as the economic burden in terms of lost work days.Surgery is an important modality for patients that fail conservative treatment with absolute indication cauda equine syndrome and relative progressive neurological deficits, intractable pain and/or sciatica that do not respond to non-operative management (Carlson, & Albert, 2019).
Discharge planning is a dynamic, integrated and multifaceted teaching-learning process in which the nurse and patient work together to change patients' behaviors through their compliance with medical instruction. Health education at discharge is an independent function of nursing practice and a primary nursing responsibility. Which aims to Increases patients’ satisfaction, promoting their compliance with medication and follow-up visits, improving activityies of daily living. Lowering patients depression levels and optimizing patients out comes, and in the community, reducing health care costs by preventing complication, decreasing lengths of hospital stay (Burgess et al., 2019).
