ROTTER'S NODES: EVALUATION IN THIRTY PATIENTS SUFFERING FROM OPERABLE BREAT CARCINOMA

Abstract


This study was carried out on 30 female patients with confirmed breast carcinoma and admitted to the Surgical Oncology Unit, Alexandria Main University Hospital.
All patients were subjected to careful history taking and thorough clinical examination with special stress on the examination of both breasts and axillae.
All cases were subjected to routine laboratory investigation, chest radiography, and liver ultrasonography.
The patients were managed by modified radical mastectomy, and intra-operatively axillary lymph nodes to be were identified according to their three levels and labelled.
The interpectoral region was identified and all the interpectoral fascia was taken as a single specimen and subjected to clearence technique.
The axillary lymph nodes and the· interpectoral fascia specimen were referred to the pathological study and correlations were made between the clinical and histopathological data.
