“A Study on some Amphiphilic Ionic Liquids as Oil Spill Dispersants”

Carmen Elsayed Elbadawy Moustafa Elshafiee;

Abstract

From the previous study it is obviously recorded that new three series of environmentally asymmetric dicationic ionic liquids (Ia-c, IIa-c and IIIa-c) were prepared and successfully well characterized. Their surface activity was studied. They were evaluated as oil spill dispersants in sea water (Red Sea). The nine compounds possessed high efficiency. The nine synthesized compounds affect the composion of heavy crude oil. The prepared three series were examined as green compounds via acute toxicity test. The recycled compounds show high dispersion effeciency. IIIb was studied as oil spill dispersant for a semi-pilot light crude oil.
