Abstract
This research develops biophilic healing interior design (BHID) guideline criteria to enhance satisfaction of patients in pediatric cancer healthcare facilities (PCHF). Given the growing attention to importance of healing environment effect on patient satisfaction and biophilic design effect on patients, this study extends the understanding of interior design effect on patient satisfaction and healing elucidating how both approaches interrelate in the form of a synergetic, holistic model adding a new dimension to research. Post occupancy evaluation is undertaken as the research method for this study to verify the biophilic healing interior design (BHID) guidelines aiding optimized healing. Furthermore, BHID guidelines specific to double-bed inpatient rooms are developed, which healthcare specialists and interior designers can follow through as a guide for designing with.
