Abstract
The sustainable antimicrobial finishing of cotton fabrics has attracted the attention of enormous textile researchers to limit the microbial colonization on the surface of cotton fabrics and save a healthy and comfortable living environment. In this context, recent years have witnessed a significant surge in the development of antimicrobials for applications in textile industries. The textile markets which have influenced by microbial growth include, but not limited to, textiles for hospitals and public areas, textiles exposed to weathering, home furnishings, sportswear, intimate apparel, etc. As a consequence of antimicrobials importance, various bioactive materials have been employed to impart antimicrobial activity to textile materials.
The present work aimed to design a simple and efficient protocol for preparation of an ecofriendly antimicrobials poly-(ionic liquid-based - oligochitosan Schiff bases (PILCSBs) those tightly adhere metal ions to synthesize the corresponding complexes or AgNPs/CuNPs to fabricate novel NBCs for application as antibacterial finishing of cotton fabrics. The novelty our approach lies in the use of multifunctional oligochitosan (PILCSBs) in capping AgNPs which may significantly enha
