EVALUATION OF SOME OF THE DIAGNOSTIC MODALITIES IN HEPATOCELLULARR CARCINOMA
Fairouz Amin Morsy Ahmed;
Abstract
is work attempted at knowledge of the various laboratory and radiological tools that aid in knowledge of the various criteria of HCC that might help in the early detection and consequently early management. Fifteen patients were the matter of this study. Routine laboratory investigations were done together with some of the liver function tests, HBV and HCV serology and serum levels of AFP and ALP were done together with radiological study including US, CT and MRI, the latter was done for only nine cases.
53.3% of cases had AFP levels of 400-<1000 ng/ml with a mean value of (598±105) ng/ml, they constituted the majority of patients, while only one case (6.7%) had AFP >1000 ng/ml and two cases (13.3%) had normal levels of AFP. There was no significant relation between the size of the nodules and the AFP levels.
ALP was normal in three cases (20%), the majority of patients (46.7%) had levels between 100-<500 K-AU with a mean of (239±107) K-AU. three cases (20%) had levels > 500 K-AU with a
