SOME BIOCHEMICAL STUDIES ON SOME BLOOD CONSTITUENTS IN CAMEL

FATEN GABER EL-SAID HELAL;

Abstract

Great attention was directed toward camel research in many regions of the world, because camels play an important socio-economic role within the pastoral and agricultural systems in dry and semidry zones of Asia and Africa. Furthermore, the survival of millions of human beings is dependent on the camel in such areas where it produces milk, meat, wool, hides and serve for riding. In addition, the camels gained a special importance and attention, owing to its ability and habit to survive in the difficult condition during severe prolonged drought strikes when other animals cease to produce or die out.
Biochemical analysis of blood can often provide valuable

information concerning health and sickness. This work represents an effort to describe some data concerning blood of dromedary camel of different age and sex. A total of 66 male and female one-humped dromedary camel ( Camelus dromedarius) were used in this study which were obtained from Bilbis Abattoir, Shalshalamoon Abattoir and some private camel farms, distributed in Sharkia Province.
