Abstract


The research’s purpose is to set sustainable interior design elements for homes divided into two parts Materials & Resources and Equipment and Systems. In addition, clarifying the impact on the triple bottom line approach. This research applied both qualitative and quantitative methods. The qualitative method is mainly applied in the literature review through the first 3 chapters, including a theoretical background for sustainable interior design and its benefits environmentally, socially, and economically. Besides the rating systems IGBC and LEED for interiors, and analysis of three global case studies. The quantitative method is applied in two parts; first choosing a sustainable home in Egypt and interviewing the owner/architect in addition to having a tour inside the house and analyzing all the sustainable elements and their impact environmentally, socially, and economically. Second, conducting a survey to check whether the respondents live in a sustainable house or a traditional one and the impact of the traditional houses on the triple bottom line.
