Abstract


Schizophrenia is one of the serious mental health problems characterized by clinical syndrome of variable, but profoundly disruptive, psychopathology that involves cognition, emotion, perception, and other aspects of behavior. People with, and those who are developing, schizophrenia are at increased risk to engage in aggressive behavior. The prevalence rates of aggression within mental health inpatient settings remains one of the most challenging aspects of working with this population, understanding factors related to aggressive behaviors in inpatients with mental disorders could aid in the evaluation, prevention, and early intervention in those cases where risk of aggressive behavior is high. Accurate aggression risk prediction made by nurses using strong predictors is a protective and preventive factor.The implementation of programs and policies to improve the care environment and prevent violence is common and important in health services.
This study aims to assess the factors affecting aggressive behavior among patients with schizophrenia through assess static factors, clinical and dynamic factors, health team related factors and unit and environmental factors affecting aggressive behavior among patients with schizophrenia. The study was carried out at the inpatient department at El- Abbasia mental health hoapital, using descriptive research design. It included 135 patients with schizophrenia who were conveniently selected.
