Abstract

Bipolar disorder is a common, chronic and lifelong disorder estimated as one of the most important causes of disability worldwide and is characterized by episodes of depression, (hypo) mania and mixed episodes intervened by periods of euthymia. Bipolar disorder is representing a complex and hetero genous syndrome, which has been associated with overall poorer prognosis and aggravated long‐term course of illness, including poorer treatment response, increased risk of relapse , decreased quality of life, decreased functioning and increased risk of suicide.
WHO ranks bipolar disorder collectively as the 4th most common moderately to severely disabled condition in the world for any age group. The disease causes a variety of unpleasant and debilitating symptoms, which can have a profound impact, including disrupting activities of daily living, employment, income, relationships, social and leisure activities, and life goals, which are known to influence quality of life (WHO, 2018).
Thus, adjustment to the illness is therefore particularly challenging, given the evidence that providing psycho education structured intervention is an essential role for psychiatric nurses, focusing on achieving improvement in mental health and psychosocial aspects of chronic health conditions.
Aim of the study:
This study aimed at enhancement of quality of life among patients with bipolar disorder.
