A Suggested Computerized Program for Improving Reading Comprehension

Abstract


The present study aims at improving the reading comprehension skills of post graduate students in the National Educational Technology Program at the Information and Decision Support Centre (IDSC), with the help of a computerized program. The effectiveness of the suggested computerized program is measured by the results of testing subject users improvement in acquiring the skill of reading comprehension. The study presents evidence that there are statistically significant differences between the pre test and the post test. The program can be concluded that the strategies and skills adopted help in fostering the post graduate reading abilities. The program also created an interaction between the user and the material read, activating prior knowledge. This program is directed to post graduate students who can use it on their en; they also can repeat its units more than once for more practice. It is also recommended that the computerized program can be used by any other post graduate from different fields.
