Abstract


Thalassemia is the most common inherited hemoglobinopathy in the world. Thalassemia is a heterogeneous group of hemoglobin production disorders. Children with beta-Thalassemia Major (ß-TM) are characterized by chronic hemolysis and require regular transfusion at an early age due to severe anemia. Subsequently, clinical disease burden and the demanding treatment can affect health-related lifestyle. An intensive chelation therapy is initiated to mitigate the effects of the resultant iron overload (Elalfy et al., 2014).
Aim of the study
This study aims to evaluate the impact of lifestyle modification module on adherence to therapeutic regimen of children and adolescent with beta-thalassemia major, through the following:
1- Assessing children and adolescents knowledge about ß-TM.
2- Assessing adherence to therapeutic regimen of children and adolescents with ß-TM.
3- Developing and implementing lifestyle modification
