The Prediction Accuracy of Dolphin 3D Software for Facial Soft Tissue Changes After Bimaxillary Orthognathic Surgery

Nehal Ibrahim Shobair;

Abstract

The y dimension showed the lowest mean and standard deviation prediction error among other dimensions (0.60 mm ± 0.33 mm) followed by the z dimension and the x dimension with a mean value of (0.99 mm ± 0.57 mm) and (1.41 mm ± 0.66 mm) respectively. In general, the total mean ± standard deviation in all dimensions was lower than 1.5 mm. Figure (37) shows the difference in the three dimensions (x, y, and z) Box plot. The results showed that in 50% of the cases the prediction error was less than 1.8 mm. The size of the boxes showed a relatively low variation among the cases which was comparable in all dimensions. The range of the data represented by the whiskers showed a higher level of variations in the x dimension and a lower variation in the y dimension. Regarding the Euclidian distance, the mean error was 3.23 ± 0.66 mms were about 50 % of the readings between 2.9 and 3.6 mms.
