Abstract

This study was conducted during two successive winter seasons of (2018/2019) and (2019/2020) and aimed to investigate the effect of NPK fertilizer and organic fertilizer (compost) and their combinations on plant characters as well as investigating the effect of different sowing spaces. The antioxidant properties of camelina seed oil were also evaluated. The field experiments were conducted in an organic research farm belonging to Heliopolis University.
The fertilization treatments were (0, 25, 50, 75 and 100% NPK) of the recommended dose and (0, 6, 8 and 10m3/ fed) compost. Seeds were sown on 1st October and the plants seeds were harvested on 1st March in both seasons (2018/ 2019) and (2019/2020).The results indicated that all treatments induced all morphological data (plant height, branches number, fresh weight, dry weight and seed yield per plant) which were correlated positively with the increment of NPK levels in both seasons comparing to control. The effect of compost revealed that compost levels (0, 6, 8 and 10 m3) resulted in significant increase in all vegetative growth and yield. Concerning the interaction between NPK and compost, the results showed significant differences in both seasons.
Increasing the applied NPK fertilizer level produced a gradual steady increase in the fixed oil % and yield in both seasons. The promising effect of NPK fertilizer on fixed oil% and yield was particularly evident at the level NPK 100%, which significantly produced highest fixed oil % (52.53%, 52.83% for the two
