STUDIES OF THE LEVELS OF VITAMINS C,E, AND A IN HEALTHY AND SOME DISEASED EGYPTIAN BALADY SHEEP IN UPPER EGYPT
AZZA MAHMOUD MOHAMED;
Abstract
Nowadays there has been an increase in the use of biochemical and haematological constituents of blood as aids of diagnosis of many commcon clinical conditions of animals. In addition the recording of the basic data of healthy animals is an important tool not only for diagnosis of the diseased cases but also for assessing the extents of the occurring pathological changes in different parts of the body.
The effect of age on the concentration of blood constituents of sheep was to a certain extend decumented by a number of authors as Kimber and Allen (1975); Radostits et al. (1994); Sadiek et al. (1993); Fatma. Omar ( 1996); Mervat. Matta (1997) and others. In fact there is no extensive study dealing with haematology and biochemistry of sheep especially in early life.
Information about the blood changes of our Egyptian sheep are scarcely available and unfortunately still the picture for sheep blood in Egyptian situation lacks information specially under Egyptian climatic conditions from birth up till maturity.
The updated information data on the blood condition of sheep in healthy status as well as some diseased conditions especially in the digestive and respiratory systems will eventually provide a source of valuable informations for veterinarians and others concerned with the management and health of sheep.
In the developing countries especially in Africa and Asia and specifically in Egypt sheep are mainly owned by individual villagers usually in small numbers. Consequently this condition to a certain extend
