Ni - YTTRIA STABILIZED ZIRCONIA ANODE FOR SOLID OXIDE FUEL CELLS

KOLTHOUM ISMAIL OSMAN;

Abstract

Ni/YSZ (Nickel/Yttria- stabilized zirconia) is the most commonly used anode material for solid oxide fuel cells. Anode supported SOFC are suitable for operating at intermediate temperatures because electroiyte layer can be made extremely thin. The main object of this work is to prepare a cermet anode for planar solid-oxide fuel cell with the required properties i.e., good mechanical strength, controlled amount of porosity, and high electrical conductivity besides being suitable for electrolyte
layer application.
