Assessment of The Environmental Impact Due To Major Hypothetical Accident from The Second Research Reactor At Inshas

Abstract
A Comprehensive probabilistic study of an accident consequence assessment for loss of coolant accident has been accomplished to the second research reactor ET-RR-2, located in nuclear research center, Egypt. Inshas lies at 35 km away from the Capital Cairo in the north- east direction. It is bounded from west by Ismaalia Canal. The populated area is located in the south and south- west.
The program package PC- COSYMA, developed with the support of European
Commission, has been used to assess the radiological and economic consequences of proposed accident. In· this investigation, the air concentration and deposition of different
nuclides considered in the release at defined distances were calculated. Also the effective· doses and doses in different organs at a short and long times after the release were calculated taking into account the contribution to the doses from different nuclides and different pathways. The consequences of the accident were evaluated in case of early and late effects. Moreover, the calculations were carried out in case of countermeasures have been considered and in its absence to-carry the comparison between the two cases. The considered countermeasures are sheltering, evacuation, relocation and administration of stable iodine tables.
The running of the program and conducting the force mentuned calculations required the following studies and parameters:
• Defining the Core inventory due to the hypothetical accident using the Monte Carlo method Multi- KENO code and ORIGEN - JR code,
• Physical parameters of the source,
