The incidence of fetal malnutrition (FM) has been estimated to range from 3 to 10% of all live births in developed societies , and 15 to 20% in developing countries . The importance of fetal malnutrition is attributed to its relationship to increased perinatal morbidities and mortalities , and to late central nervous system sequelae .
