Microbiological studies on respiratory affection in chickens
Hanan Mohamed Anwer Sedhom;
Abstract
Bacteriological examination of 200 chickens were done for isolation and identification of bacterial strains causing respiratory affections ofchickens. The isolated microorganisms were M gallisepticum (16%), M synoviae(1.5%), S, aureus (11.5%), S epidermidis (7%), Str. avium (4.5%), Str, zooepidemicus (1%), P. multocida (12.5%), P.
haemolytica (2%), Ps, aerginosa (5.5%), E coli (92.5%), S. gallinarum (2%), KL
pneumoniae subsp. pneumoniae (3%) and Pr. vulgaris (1%). Serotyping of E. coli, P. multocida and M. gallisepticurn isolates recovered from diseased chickens were done and the results were described in details. Experimental infection of chicks with E. coli, M. gallisepticum and P. multocida were done and respiratory signs with other different clinical signs, post mortem lesions as well as different rates of mortality were described in details.
