EFFECT OF FRUCTOSE AND N-NITROSOMORPHOLINE ON ENZYMES ALTERATION IN LIVER OF Bufo regularis

Adel Abd El-Maaboud Abd EI-Lattif Agha;

Abstract

The aim of the present investigation is to study the effect offructose on liver tumors induced by N-nitrosomorpholine (NNM) in the Egyptian toad (Bufo regularis).
For evaluation the role of fructose on hepatocrcinogenesis histological, ultrastructural and enzymological studies (histochemical and biochemical) were performed.
Experimental animals were kept in an approximated normal habitat in the laboratory and divided into three different treated groups and one control group:
By the end of the treatment, the results of the present investigation can be summarized as follows:
Experimental animals received NNM, 28 mg/toad (with or without fructose), 7 gm/toad revealed different degrees of alterations. The toads which received NNM and fructose showed an increase in the mortality rate and incidence of liver nodules in comparison with the experimental toads received NNM alone.
Also, histopathological alterations were observed more severely in toads received NNM with fructose and the developed hepatic noduies were diagnosed as hepatocellular carcinoma in which their cells showed pleomorphism and loss of polarity as a criteria of malignancy.
