NETWORK MANAGEMENT USING MOBILE AGENTS

Abstract


The objective of this thesis is to introduce a new model to manage TCP/IP based network like Internet; this model is based on the Mobile Agent technology.
The Mobile Agent technology has many advantages, which make it very suitable to be used in the Network Management.


This thesis is divided into two parts:

Part I: Distributed Processing and Agency Concept. This part consists of four chapters, these chapters are:
1. Introduction: this chapter contains the problem definition, goals and strategy, the scope ofthis thesis, and the structure of the thesis.
2. Agents and Intelligent Agents: this chapter contains an overview of Agent and

Intelligent Agent system, what is the software agent, its theories, languages, and its architecture, also it contains an overview ofthe Intelligence and how our mind agree with this concept. Finally it introduces some application for the intelligent agent.
3. Network Management Fundamentals: this chapter gives fundamental information about the network management concepts, the definition of the network management, and what is its important. It introduces the concepts of network management platform, network management architecture, and network management application. Finally it gives an overview of the OSI management protocol and TMN management protocol.
