Abstract
The use of external fixation has been limited because of its unacceptably high rate of complications. Plate osteosynthesis has the problems of higher rates of secondary radial nerve palsies, extensive soft tissue stripping with increased possibilities of infection, or interference with blood supply that may affect union. It provides less secure fixation in osteoporotic bonen' 3°3. Relative osteoporosis under the plate, delayed union, re-fracture after plate removal, and the need for second operation for plate removal are other disadvantagesin.
