Abstract
3 -(3,4-DICHLORO (or 3,4-dimethyljbenzoyl)] prop-2-enoic acids 1 react with o-xylene and p-xylene'under Friedel-Craft's reaction conditions giving acids 2 or 3, respectively. They were converted into the corresponding pyridazinone 4 derivatives upon treatment with N2H4 in boiling ethanol. The pyridazine derivatives 9,10,11 can be synthesized as a pro-drug due to their more potent and less peripheral effects than non-acidic or weakly acidic NSAIDs. Also, triazolopyridazine, oxazinone and furanone were also investigated.
