Relation between Job Crafting and Job Satisfaction among Staff Nurses

Abstract


Background: Job crafting is a proactive behavior the changes that nurses make in the levels
of job demands and job resources of constructive behavior in which workers aggregate resources to
meet their needs which increases their job satisfaction. Aim: This study aimed to assess the relation
between job crafting and job satisfaction among staff nurses. Research design: A descriptive,
correlational design was used. Setting: The study was conducted at Benha University Hospital at Al
Kalubia Government. Subjects: A simple random sampling technique was used to select 169 staff
nurses Tools of data collection: Data were collected by using two tools namely, the job crafting scale
and the nurses' job satisfaction scale. Results: More than half of studied staff nurses had a low job
crafting level and half of them had a high job satisfaction level. Conclusion: There was a positive
correlation between job crafting and job satisfaction. Recommendations: Nurse managers stimulate
nurses' job crafting process through the acceptance of job crafting as a positive and desirable practice.
And providing a spiritual and trustful work environment for creating emotional relationships with
nurses to enhance job satisfaction.
